Prof. Zhou knew the site, he was there 10 years ago. After a short search everybody form the group had his own shrub for the pictures. My first flowering wild tree peony!! I couldn't get enough.Here one and there one even better specimen, and this, with 3 flowers! Some just in bud, many perfectly fresh open, some already fruiting. What a good time to be right here.

Species: Paeonia decomposita subsp. decomposita

Location: N-W Sichuan, near Maerkang, Zibao Village, South facing slope

Altitude: 2600m

Size of natural population: large, many shrubs scattered on a slope, mixed with many other shrubs

Companion plants. Berberis, Rosa, Indigofera, Artemisia, Sorbus delavayi, Iris, Daphne, Anemone hupehensis
