Some new peonies from France:

Paeonia 'Fandango'

Paeonia 'Vanilla Serenade'

20.03.2008 Schnee zum Frühlingsbeginn! Endlich Schnee! Zwar nicht so viel wie am Mount Hood in Oregon vor 2 Wochen, aber wenn schon nicht zu Weihnachten, dann wenigstens zu Ostern! Snow at spring beginning. Finally snow! Until noon it was already gone. No danger for the peonies. But they are not open yet.

The „race“ on March 20

The same plants 3 days earlier

Sno at the Timberline Lodge, Mount Hood, OR, 2 weeks earlier!

The spring is a joy! Take a walk through my garden today!

Japanese tree peony 14.03.2008

Paeonia 'Katrin'

Beautiful red Corydalis

Wild tulip

Hepatica transsylvanica

Hepatica pyrenaica

Hepatica pyrenaica

Wild tulips under the shrubs of the thuringian rockii hybrids in my garden. They perform well under the tree peonies, because the drainage is good (on the hill) and the spot is very sunny.

Helleboruzs mulitifidus subsp. hercegovinus, very nice just for the foliage alone, but also beautful flowers.

Orientalis-hybrid seedling with nice dark nectaries and spots.

The same again in red

A seedling from the plants in Vienna, Hetzdendorfer Schlosse. Hoping they will flower this year for the first time.

Just for the early colour of the foliage I have to love this plant! Thanks to Fritz again for the seeds!!

Johann, your Broteroi does well here!

Paeonia rockii from Baokang. (subsp. linyanshanii). It is funny, that this subspecies never keeps the terminal buds alive, they always die back in the winter. The plant is now 4 years planted and never bloomed. Other Rockiis don't show this behavior. Maybe it is too early to make a decision, but this species is not the winner type in my garden. Insofar I can't agree with Irmtraud Rieck, who stated that this is the better ubspecies of Rockii. I say: No

The 5 Maireis on the race for #1

Paeonia 'Messagère' with giant buds.

Flowerbed with P. tomentosa, P. wittmanniana, P. wittmanniana and P. 'Geratal' (row on the right), P. peregrina coll. Calabria, P. mascula coll.. Calabria (row in the middle, the green leaves)

Paeonia 'Concordia Droysen'

Paeonia 'Desalay's Sand'

Propagation bed with divisions of P. mairei and P. emodi

Paeonia wittmanniana subsp. macrophylla, leafing out

Paeonia peregrina

Paeonia 'Opalfeuer'

Paeonia mairei

Paeonai 'Geratal'

12.03.2008 Die Saison ist eröffnet! Bald geht's los mit der Blüte. Pfingstrosen vor Ostern? Warum nicht? Der bisherige Spitzenplatz war der 15. April 2005, aber dieses Jahr wird's eher. Das möchte ich fast wetten. Meine Maireis können's jedenfalls kaum erwarten, und auch viele andere nicht, The season has started! Very soon will be the first flowers. Peonies before Easter? Why not? The earliest ever was 15. April 2005 in 2005, but this year seems to be ever earlier. My P. maireis are on the jump – who's first!? Soem P. broterois too, some other species ...

Paeonia broteroi

Nickende Knospen von P. obovata subsp. obovata.

.. aber eigentlich ist gerade Hoch-Zeit der Christrosen
