White flowering P. mascula subsp. bodurii (top) and and unknown red flowering other peony (below left) growing side by side. I have not seen the red one in flower, but my guide has showed me these two plants. The red flowering has reddish leaves, but the form and the plant habit is the same, as the white flowering type.
