Paeonia 'Xian Tao'

Heze Flower Garden in 1985.

Xian Tao. Crown proliferate form. Flowers 19cm x 9cm, red (52-A) with pink. Petals multi-whorled, soft, thin, purplish red basal blotches, all stamens petaloid; pistils developed into colourful, striped petals in the lower flower. Petals relatively few, large, long, very small near the flower centre, all stamens small or petaloid, pistils small, nearly absent in the upper flower. Stalks fairly long, slender, pliable, flowers lateral. Flowering late midseason. Plant tall, partially spreading. Branches stout. Leaves long, medium- sized, crowded, thick, pendulous; leaflets ovate or broadly ovate, apex acuminate or acute, the margins wavy and curved upwards. Growth extremely vigorous, flowers relatively few, tolerant of leaf spot. Bred By Heze Flower Garden in 1985.
