MY LOVE (Don Hollingsworth, Kansas City, Missouri), April 15, 1992. Seedling #Hollingsworth 1860. Parentage Moon of Nippon x Cytherea. Bloomed before 1980. Double hybrid, of lactiflora type, pearlescent white, has a conical form with no stamens or seeds. It is medium tall, 34" with good stem strength. Prolific flowering on dark green strong bush. Mid- late bloom right after mid-season hybrids. Bulletin #282. June, 1992.
NIPPON TREASURE (Lyman D. Glasscock, Elwood, Illinois), registered by Elizabeth Falk, June 1, 1987. Red single Japanese hybrid. Parentage and first-bloom, unknown. Late, 3 ft. in height, average stem strength with abundant amount of bloom. It has stamens and seeds; no pollen. The flower is a vibrant red with petals in a single row with a red and gold combination feathery center. Bulletin #263.
OPEN SESAME (H. Entsminger, Cut Bank, Montana), 1996. Herbaceous, mlokosewitschii x Athena, yellow (RHS 3-0) with small red eye. 4" cup-shaped flower, one per stem, lightly scented. Pollen and pod fertile. Flowers held tall and erect on strong stems well above the bush. Medium to small sized leaf, (RHS 147A) deep green. First bloomed 1992. Bush wider than tall.
PASTEL SPLENDOR (Roger Andersen/Bill Seidl), Manitowoc, Wisconsin, July 9, 1996. Seedling #SB-6. Parentage Martha W. x Saunders F2 A. First bloomed about 1988. This hybrid has pale lavender petals shading to cream toward center and dark purple flares. Two rows of five petals each reveal ten flares since there is, at most, only a thin stamen ring to obscure them. Multiple carpels, sometimes excessively so. Extremely vigorous. Original plant had 70 stems in a mounded plant 30" high x 56" wide in 1991, before division.
PASTEL SUNRISE (Roy G. Klehm), Klehm Nursery, June, 1995. Seedling #KR47-10. Japanese lactiflora. Pastel pink, double row light pink guards maturing to soft pastel pink. Nice soft pastel yellow, full center. 51/2-6 inches wide, good foliage, good stem strength, 26" height. Has pollen, bloom and fragrant. 2-4 buds per stem. Bulletin #295.
PASTELEGANCE (Bill Seidl, Manitowoc, Wisconsin), April 13, 1989. Seedling #82SDLC-4, double herbaceous hybrid. Salmon Dream x Lemon Chiffon. First year bloomed 1987. Ploidy-Tetraploid. Pastel creamy-pink double with stamens interspersed throughout and clustered around carpels which are not hidden. Tetraploid. Fertile both ways. 30" height holds flower erect. Large but not coarse semi-glossy foliage, mid-season bloom. Bulletin #270.
PAUL FRIESEN (R. W. Tischler), 1995, Faribault, Minnesota. Seedling #7269, parentage unknown. A bright red single, hybrid. Blooms 4 to 5 inches in size on strong, sturdy stems that grow 24 to 25 inches in height. Light green carpels are surrounded by red stamens and then a full row of golden yellow. Stands upright with excellent foliage. Blooms early. A very attractive low-growing plant which makes it well-liked by all who see it in the garden. Bulletin #297.
