HERMOINE (H. P. Sass, 1932) - Double - Pink - Late Midseason. Tall. Large. Color similar to SARAH BERNHARDT. Straight stems. Bulletin 49.

HESPANOLA (Andrews, 1923) - Double - Pink - Late. Odor pleasing. Medium height. Rose-type, large, color dark pink. Vigorous. M. Bulletin 22.

HETTIE ELLIOT (Pleas, 1910) - Jap. - Rosy Pink - M.

H. F. REDDICK (Brand, 1913) - Double - Bright dark crimson. M.

HIAWATHA (Franklin, 1931) - Double - Red - Late. 36" tall. Very large, not quite full double rose type, dark red. Good stems, clean foliage, vigorous. Very attractive form, none like it. Bulletin 47.

HIDDEN BLUSHERS (Brethour, 1939) - Double - White - Late. White suffused pink at the base of the petals. List in Bulletin 91.

HIGH JINKS (Auten, 1929) - Jap. - Red. Deep angry cerise red, shading in center toward white. A deeper colored Cathedral. Bulletin 39.

HIGHLAND LASSIE (Toedt, 1929) - Single - Red. A single following the officinalis group. Medium size. Petals cupped. Center of petals pink, edges heavily textured crimson, rolled and widely ruffled. Bulletin 37.

HIGHLIGHT (Auten-Wild, 1952) (Named by Mrs. D. Y. Dunn) Double - Red - Late Midseason. Medium height. Dark red of pleasing color, form and good substance. Good stems, A "highlight" in the garden. Bulletin 126.

HIS MAJESTY (Kelway, 1929) - Double - Red. A new color in peonies. An imperial kind with incurved outer petals of deepest, richest maroon crimson surrounding scarlet central petals with bronze yellow reflexes. Distinct. Bulletin 38,

HOLLYWOOD (Auten, 1937) - Jap. - Pink - Late. Medium height. Novelty Jap, unusual shade of creamy cerise pink. Large trim blooms on stiff stems. Bulletin 69.

HON. ALFRED DEAKIN (Kelway) - Single - Flesh - M.

HONEYSWEET (Franklin, 1933) - Double - White. Tall. Very sweet scented. White with golden reflex. M.

HONOR (Saunders, 1941) - Single to semi-double - Pink - Hybrid. Bright rose pink with paler flares. In New York state they start about June 1, just ahead of the great strain of "lobatas". Albiflora x Otto Froebel. Lists in Bulletins 91 & 129. Saunders 1955 catalog.

HOOSIER BEAUTY (Kundred, 1951) - Double - Blush to white - Midseason. Medium height. Mild fragrance. Large full double blush slowly fading white. It is an evenly formed beautiful white that stands out well in the field, has no stamens. Good stems. Introduced by Ernest I. Stahly, Goshen, Ind., with the above description.

HOPE (Saunders, 1929) - Semi-Double - Pink - Hybrid. Flowers 5-6" across, of the brightest showing pink, between salmon and cherry. The color is near that of the female parent, but brighter and more effective and the flower, being semi-double, has more body than Otto Froebel. Sterile pollen and sets no seed. Albiflora x Otto Froebel. Bulletin 37 -List in 91.

HORIZON (Saunders, 1943) - Single - Flesh - Hybrid. Tall. Palest flesh. Huge center. Quite outstanding. Parentage uncertain. Lists in Bulletins 91 and 129.

HOTTENTOT (Dana, 1926) - Semi-Double - Pink. No fragrance. Peculiar lilac and light pink combined with prominent stamens of various shades. Sturdy grower. Good stem. Bulletin 28.

HOVEY'S WHITE (Richardson) - Double - Pink, changing to white. M.

HOWARD R. WATKINS (Beckstoce. 1947) - Double - Red - Very Early - Hybrid. Medium height. Very large, bright red with strong stems. No stamens show. Carpels tipped pink. Named for the past Secretary of the American Iris Society. Officinalis x albiflora. Bulletin 108. List in Bulletin 129.

HUMEI (Anderson, 1810) - Double - Cherry-Pink - DISCARDED. 1930 Wild catalog: Late, large pink? too heavy for cut flower variety, but good landscape flower. M.

HUMEI CARNEA (Guerin, 1856) - Double - Flesh - Early Midseason - DISCARDED. Rose type, early midseason. Very large bloom, clear flesh tinged rose. M.

HUMORESQUE (Auten, 1925) - Double - Pink - Late. Medium size. Rather flat bloom, higher in center. Light pink with unusual markings of red. A sure opener. Stands up well in sudden hot spells. Erect habit. M. Bulletin 25.

HYOGO-JIMAN (Japan) - Jap. - Red. Listed by Krekler, 1955. Mr. Peyton says it was a Smirnow importation, R.J.

IDA MELLINGER (Kelsey, 1934) - Double - Red - Midseason. Pleasant odor. Very dark red. Fully double. Petal arrangement like PHILIPPE RIVOIRE. Rose formation. Shows some purple. Holds color well. Strong stems. List in Bulletin 109.
