RAMONA (Franklin, 1928) - Double - Pink. Fragrant. Very large rose type. Dark pink. Stiff stems. Bulletin 35.
RAMONA LINS (Lins, 1942) - Double - Blush - Medium late bloomer. 38" high on 3 year old plants The most gorgeous of all blush peonies. Perfect in form of bloom and plant. One of the all-time greats. Full double flower of perfect form and outstanding color. Not a light pink. Strong stems hold the bloom erect. Dark green foliage all the way down. Bulletin 90 catalogs.
R. A. NAPIER (Brand, 1939) Once called ROCHESTER. Double - White - Late Midseason. Delicately tinted white and pink of great refinement. Beautiful form and plant. Lists in Bulletins 91 and 130.
RANSOM (Saunders) - Semi-Double - Red - Hybrid. Brilliant red semi-double hybrid, with red tipped carpels. Bulletin 125, page 23.
RAOUL DESSERT (Dessert, 1919) - Double - Pink - Late. Medium height. Rose scented. Large brilliant shell-pink, of a shade extremely rare in peonies, lacking those mauve or bluish tints which characterize the family. Free flowering; erect stems. Excellent foliage. "A well grown flower of Walter Faxon makes a remarkable well-finished bloom much superior in color to Raoul Dessert." - Fewkes. "A perfect beauty, same shading as Walter Faxon and a much better grower." - Boyd. M.
RAPHAEL (Mechin, 1882) - Double - Garnet - DISCARDED - Midseason.
RAPTURE (Thurlows & Stranger, Inc., 1937) - Double - White - Midseason. Fragrant. Broad well rounded guard petals with center somewhat smaller and cupped. Clear white suffused with soft creamy lights and a hint only of blush. List in Bulletin 91.
RARE BROCADE (Pleas) - Jap. - Crimson - DISCARDED - Midseason.
RARE CARVING (Kelsey, 1936) - Semi-Double - Pink - Midseason. Tall. Loosely formed, medium pink. Large yellow stamens. Strong stems. List in Bulletin 109.
RARE CHINA (Kelsey, 1935) - Semi-Double - Blush White - Midseason. A lovely flower of blush-white with five or six rows of guard petals surrounding a large center of yellow stamens, charmingly arranged like a beautiful china plate with a touch of red and gold in the center. Seems to grow more beautiful daily. Resembles Minnie Shaylor in general makeup. A ceramic in petals. Bulletin 80. Wild's 1955 catalog.
RARE ETCHING (Kelsey, 1939) - Double - White -Late Midseason. Musk odor. Rose formed blooms, delicate shades of pink and gold in center. Extremely beautiful in form and petal arrangement. Well named. Ultimate refinement in formation, bloom and coloring. List in Bulletin 109.
RARE PERFUME (Kelsey, 1936) - Double - Pink - Midseason. Very fragrant. Medium height. Medium rose-pink, showing some yellow staminodes intermingled. Medium size. List in Wild's 1955 catalog.
RASHOOMON (Japanese origin) - Jap. - Rose-Red - Midseason. Medium tall. Good fragrance. Large. Glowing rose-red guard petals which relax with age and lose brightness; center of slender staminodes with narrow, incurved tips of rose-red, edged yellow and pinkish buff on the back; yellow thread-like filaments; carpels ruddy at tips, shading to green, bright orange-pink at tips. Erect growth; free-flowering; stems strong. Foliage clear, shining green. M.
RASPBERRY ROSE (Auten, 1956) - Jap. - Pink - Hybrid. Typical Japanese type. An odd shade as the name suggests. Very striking. Fine plant. Officinalis x albiflora. Letter from Mr. Auten, April, 1956. Auten's 1956 catalog.

REBECCA WRIGHT (Wright, 1940) First named REBECCA. Single - White. Tall. It is a large white with stigmas also white. It has tall stems and is a good flower. (Peyton. Bulletin 127, page 18.
RED BALL (Murawska, 1950) - Double - Red - Late. Tall, about 48" high. Slight fragrance. A seedling of Felix Crousse. Full globular double with tall, strong stems. Its color is a very bright red. The foliage is dark green. Bulletin 122.
RED BEAUTY (Auten, 1956) - Jap. - Red - Early - Hybrid. Dwarf. Black red Japanese type. Narrow center petals same black red, with well marked yellow edges. Stiff stems. Officinalis x albiflora. Letter from Mr. Auten, April, 1956, Auten's 1956 catalog.
RED BEAUTY (Van Leeuwen, 1924) - Double - Red - Midseason.
RED BIRD (Franklin, 1921) - Double - Red - Midseason. Moderate height. Anemone type; broad guard petals and tall narrow feathery center petals of dull light rose red, suggests the plumage of a tropical bird. Very unusual flower. The guards are irregular and undulating, arranged horizontally; tips of petaloids curled inward; carpels greenish white, with red tips and light pink granules at the base. Vigorous; floriferous; average foliage. "An excellent landscape variety." Mabel L. Franklin. M.
