WITCHES' DANCE (Auten, 1931) - Single - Red - Late. Tall. Dark red rich with purple. Stiff stems. Bulletin 47 and List in 91.
W. L. GUMM (Gumm, 1929) - Double - White - Midseason. Medium height. Beautiful white well built up on medium heigh stems. A true grade A peony. List in Bulletin 91.
WYOMING (DuMont) - Jap. - White, or Orchid. "Wyoming I got at Wyoming, Ill., 10 miles north of Princeville. I believe it is a chance seedling. A Jap, orchid shade, midseason. I called it Jap. W. Mr. W. G. DuMont, Des Moines, la., was born in Wyoming, Ill., and he started calling it Wyoming, so I followed suit. I don't know when all this happened. Mr. DuMont is buried at Wyoming. He was a President of the American Peony Society." From Mr. Edward Auten, Jr., August, 1955.
XANDA (Peyton) - Double - Pink - Early. It is a loosely built light pink of distinctive coloring of bloom and foliage and is early. Names for Mrs. Xenda Jett. Bulletin 129, pg. 43.
XENIA (Auten, 1955) - Jap. - Pink - Midseason. Tall. Outer petals an exquisite delicate pink which fades white in the garden. Center light yellow. Tall with good plant habit. Auten's 1955 catalog.

YAMAGOOCHI (Chase, 1935) (approximately) Jap. - Pink - Midseason. Somewhat similar to OSAKA (fine light or medium light pink) and equally as fine. List in Bulletin 91.

YAMATO TSUKASA (Origin unknown) Jap. - Pink - Midseason. Bright rose. M. Wassenberg 1954 catalog.
YAYOURA (Origin unknown) Jap. - Blush, changing to white. Midseason.
YELLOW BEAUTY (Richmond) - Double Pink- Yellow - Midseason. Dwarf. Narrow yellow petals enclosed in large pink guards. A few blush petals in center tipped carmen. Richmond's 1952 catalog and 1955 list.
YELLOW JAP - Jap. - Pink with yellow center. List by Goldsmith, 1955.
YELLOW KING (Origin unknown) - Jap - Pink - Early. Large pale pink guards, vivid yellow staminodes. A very beautiful flower. This came from Mrs. Harding's garden. It was not her seedling. She did not know its origin. List in Bulletin 91.
YESO (Origin unknown) - Jap. - White, tinted yellow. Midseason.
YOKOHAMA (Origin unknown) - Jap. - Blush White - Midseason.
YONDER LEA (Fletcher, 1942) - Single - Red - Midseason. Medium height. Unknown red double x FESTIVA MAXIMA. Color American Beauty, flower medium size. Carpels, stigma and disc have the appearance of bright yellow, almost orange. Bulletin 87.
YONG LO (Harding, 1935) - Double - Pink - Midseason. Tall. Fragrant. This flower is soft lilac rose (French chart), glowing throughout. The guard petals are deepest in tone and the color melts gradually into rose cream at the center. Guard petals have occasional tiny spot of red on the center petals as in FESTIVA MAXIMA of which it is a seedling. The petals are very large, both wide and deep of heavy substance. It is a high built flower with tall, strong growing stems and splendid foliage which resembles that of its parent, Festiva Maxima. The stems are large and stiff. It is free-blooming and increases well. Bulletin 61.
YOOCHI-NO-TSUKI (Origin unknown) Jap. - White - Midseason.
YORK & LANCASTER (Kelway, 1928) - Single - Red and White. Color and markings like the rose of the same name, red and white. Deep green foliage with plenty of side buds. Upright growth. Bulletin 38.
YOSEMITE (Rosefield, 1941) - Double - White - Late. Quite tall. Large full double white with yellow base. Excellent plant and beautiful flower. Very stiff stems, which hold the flowers erect. List in Bulletin 91. Wild 1953 catalog.
YOUR MAJESTY (Saunders, 1947) - Single - Red - Hybrid. 4' stems. Vivid scarlet red flowers. Imposing erect carriage. Albiflora x lobata. List in Bulletin 129. Saunders 1955 catalog.
YOUTH (Kelsey, 1935) - Double - White - Late Midseason. Tall. Very tall stems and a beautiful flower of white. Lists in Bulletins 91 and 109.
YUKON (Auten, 1937) - Double - White - Late. Tall. Fragrant. Pure white double. Spotless, charming petalage. Good for cutting. Bulletin 69.
YUTSUMI (Gumm-Home Garden Co.) - Jap. - Dark Pink. Shown by Mr. Mason, 1951. Bulletin 122, page 9. Check list 1939.
ZEPHYRUS (Kelway before 1895) - Double - Blush - DISCARDED - Midseason.
ZEST (Hollis, 1907) - Double - Pink - DISCARDED - Midseason.
ZIBA (Little, 1940) - Double - Red - Midseason. Tall. Brilliant red, immense ball. Imposing. List in Bulletin 91.
ZIP COON (Auten, 1931) - Semi-Double - Red - Midseason. Dwarf. Glossy black red. Medium size bloom. Stiff stems. Bulletin 47.
ZIE CALOT (Miellez., 1855) - Double - Violet-Rose - DISCARDED - Midseason.
ZOE VERNIORY (Guerin, 1863) - Double - Flesh - DISCARDED - Midseason.
ZORI (Glasscock) - Pink - Hybrid. A very brilliant pink with shades of orange. Hill catalog. Supplement to 117 Bulletin, page 4.
ZULIEMA (Brant, 1941) - Double - Red. Rich red, very double, handsome flower. Same color as its seed parent, Richard Carvel, but more fragrant. Bulletin 83. List in Bulletin 91 spells the name Brandt.
ZULU BRIDE (Auten, 1933) - Semi-Double - Red - Midseason. Darkest black red, with striking ring of yellow stamens. Flat bloom medium size. Color holds. Probably darker than [on p. 107:] Mons. Cahuzac. Stiff stems. Bulletin 54, and List in Bulletin 61.
