VIRGINIA NANCE (Nicholls-Wild & Son 1958) (N943) D.L.M. Pink purple or deep lavender pink edged with orchid silver. Petals roll back. Bulletin #157 December 1957.

WALTER MAINS (Mains 1957) Hybrid J.E. DR. (K-4) Albiflora (Lactiflora x officinalis. Anemone flora aurea ligulata rosea. Guards dark red, large, staminodes flattened, color of guards with yellow edges. Carpels whitish green tipped with pink. Tall. Bulletin #146 September 1957.

WHITE CHARM (Glasscock-Falk, 1964) D.E.W. Fourth generation hybrid. Resembles Red Charm in size and shape. Outer petals light pink, when cut in bud. Center, cream colored petals. Registered by Mrs. Elizabeth Falk, Plainfield, Illinois. Late. Bulletin #172 March 1964.

WHITE SANDS (Gilbert H. Wild & Son) White and yellow Jap. 32" tall, 5-6" flower. Midseason. Fragrant. Yellow center, (really an anemo) with petalodes developing, becoming white carpelodes in many blooms. Bulletin #190 September 1968.

WHITE MOON (Bigger 1970) (50-61) Frankie Curtis x ?. White, all white, nothing but white. Full rose fragrant flower 30" stem.

WHITTIER (Krekler 1959) D.E.B. (AU-19) Near white, full double, no carpels or stamens. 3" stems. Bulletin #154 September 1959.

WILFRED JOHNSON (Franklin's seedling, owned by Brand. (A-32-P) (Named after one of their long time employes.) Grows "barrel shape." 32-34" height. Blooms fully double, rose pink, lay flat on top of bush. Bloom, 6-8". Registered by R. W. Tischler, Brand Peony Farm, Faribault, Minnesota. Bulletin #182 September 1966.

WILLA GILL (Nicholls-Wild &. Son 1959) (N1340) M. to M.L.D. cream flesh white symetrical flower, crinkled, slight cut edges. Outer petals roll out. Petals broad and firm. Registered by Gilbert H. Wild & Son. Bulletin #151 December 1958.

WILLIAM COUSINS (Cousins 1968) Double, brilliant scarlet, approximately 3 ½ feet tall, 4" wide. Hybrid of unknown origin. One bloom per stalk. Registered by L. W. Cousins, 472 Tecumseh Avenue, London, Canada. Bulletin #190 September 1968.

WINE RED (6502) Ben Gilbertson, Kindred, North Dakota, November 1, 1974. Double, wine-red, 24" height, no pollen, sets seeds, ball form, midseason, one to three buds per stem, Lactiflora. Bulletin #213 March 1975.

YELLOW DREAM (Mr. Itoh in Japan. Itoh-Smirnow hybrid) First bloomed 1964. Parentage, Alice Harding (tree peony) - Kakoden, semi-double herbaceous. Yellow with light blotches in the center. Ball form, stamens, pollen, seeds, reliable, fragrant. 24-36" height. Midseason. Tree peony foliage with herbaceous plant habits. Purchased by me in 1966 for my exclusive use. Now known as Itoh-Smirnow hybrid. Introduced in this country and other countries by Louis Smirnow. Registered by Louis Smirnow January 16, 1974. Bulletin #209 March 1974.

YELLOW EMPEROR (Mr. Itoh in Japan. Itoh-Smirnow hybrid) First bloomed 1964. Parentage, Alice Harding (tree peony) - Kakoden, semi-double herbacaceous. Yellow, occasionally slight red blotches in the center. Ball form, good substance, stamen, pollen, seeds, reliable and fragrant. 24-36" height. Midseason. Tree peony foliage with herbaceous plant habits. Purchased by me in 1966 for my exclusive use. Now known as Itoh-Smirnow hybrid. Introduced in this country and other countries by Louis Smirnow. Registered by Louis Smirnow January 16, 1974. Bulletin #209 March 1974.
